PSG Edges Marseille on Penalties to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now won the season-opening cup on fourteen separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the match between the French league winners and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side struck twice in the closing moments to seize a shock advantage. First, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial equaliser in the final seconds to force the contest into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping decisive attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all converted with composure for PSG to seal a convincing shootout win.

The record champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the past thirteen seasons.
